Welcome to Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, a heritage town located west of Quebec City in the Capitale-Nationale region. For over 325 years, it has preserved its rich history while inviting outdoor enthusiasts to explore its vast landscapes.
Its history dates back to the early days of New France in 1647, when settlers established themselves along the Saint Lawrence River. This village core led to the founding of the parish in 1691. A number of inhabitants then decided to settle here, strengthening their ties to the river. Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures has maintained its agricultural heritage with numerous family farms, including Ferme Racette farm, established in 1678.
Remnants of traditional architecture, from the French Regime to the present day, can still be seen along the King’s Road, where the town holds the longest stretch of the route. Whether exploring its built heritage, visiting the Église Saint-Augustin church, or enjoying a moment at the Érablière du Chemin du Roy sugar shack, every corner of this heritage city tells a fascinating story!
